Great list! I’d add ‘A history of Western Philosophy’ to this list. It’s a big beast, but there’s no book better for a big picture view of how we got to where we are today in the Western world, how our values were shaped, and how, to a large extent, history determines what we do to this day.

I’ll be getting several of these. Thanks!

You’ll have to create an account and then re-add the list, but then people can follow you and share your list with fellow Goodreads users. That may sound like an ad but I’m just thinking of my friends who use Goodreads who I know would love to go through this list.

    Hi Andrew,

This is a wonderful list, I’m surprised that I have already read quite a few on here but I will add these to my library, I thoroughly enjoyed this list. I would recommend adding The Art of Virtue by Benjamin Franklin to your list.

    Take care

I’m so glad I found this list. I just got into book reading about a year ago and will definitely buy many suggested here. I know a lot of time went into putting this together. Thanks!

Very good blog! Do you have any tips and hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost on evintyherg. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any tips? Cheers!
